Abdellatif Kabbaj named HIS ICON 2026 at Rabat summit

The Hospitality Innovation Summit held in Rabat on 10 June 2026 awarded Abdellatif Kabbaj the title of HIS ICON 2026. The distinction recognized his long-standing contribution to Morocco’s hospitality sector and his role in shaping modern hotel standards in the country. The ceremony took place at the Four Seasons Hotel Kasr Al Bahr, bringing together industry leaders and investors from the tourism and hotel sectors.

Kabbaj leads the Kenzi Hotels Group and has worked in the hospitality industry for more than four decades. Organizers highlighted his influence in building a competitive national hotel industry and strengthening Morocco’s positioning as a tourism destination. His work has focused on improving service quality, expanding infrastructure, and supporting the growth of locally managed hotel brands in an increasingly global market.

His career began in entry-level hotel roles before progressing into senior management and executive leadership. This trajectory reflects broader structural changes in Morocco’s tourism industry, where professional training and internal promotion have played a growing role. Over time, he became one of the most visible figures in the sector, guiding strategic development within his group.

The summit placed emphasis on innovation and investment in hospitality. Industry participants discussed evolving expectations in international tourism, including digital transformation, sustainability standards, and customer experience design. Within this context, Kabbaj’s recognition positioned him as a reference point for long-term leadership in Moroccan hospitality.

The award ceremony formed part of a broader program aimed at strengthening collaboration between tourism stakeholders in Morocco and abroad. The event reinforced Rabat’s role as a meeting point for regional hospitality dialogue and highlighted the sector’s contribution to national economic development.
