Moroccan Passport Ascends to 71st Place on 2024 Henley Passport Index

The Moroccan passport has exhibited a steady ascent in strength over recent years, currently securing the 71st position on the 2024 Henley Passport Index. This marks a significant advancement from its 83rd place ranking just the previous year.

Moroccan citizens can now explore 71 countries and territories without the need for a visa in advance, a notable increase from the 85 destinations accessible in 2021. Remarkably, the North African nation now shares the 71st position with Tunisia and Zambia.

According to exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Henley Passport Index reveals that Japan and Singapore continue to hold the top spot, with their citizens enjoying visa-free access to an unprecedented 194 destinations out of 227 globally.

Joining the upper echelons are four European Union countries – France, Germany, Italy, and Spain – extending their passport holders easy entry to the same 194 destinations worldwide.

Despite the historical trend of increasing travel freedom, Christian H. Kaelin, Chairman of Henley & Partners, notes a widening gap between the most and least powerful passports. The top-ranked nations now boast 166 more visa-free options than Afghanistan, which holds the bottom position on the index.

Noteworthy climbers in the rankings include South Korea, Finland, and Sweden, securing 2nd place with access to 193 countries. Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands jointly claim the 3rd spot, with their passports facilitating easy entry to 192 destinations.

The United Kingdom and the United States occupy the 4th and 7th positions, respectively, enabling hassle-free travel to 188 countries each. This standing is a testament to their enduring influence on the global stage.
