Morocco Cultivates Agricultural Innovation with DAUMTECH Joint Venture
A new era in precision agriculture has begun in Morocco with the establishment of DAUMTECH, a groundbreaking joint venture between Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and Les Domaines Agricoles. This collaborative effort aims to pioneer advanced technological solutions for sustainable practices, positioning Morocco as a regional leader in the agritech sector.
This ambitious initiative follows a four-year research and development partnership between the innovative university and the prominent agricultural company. Leveraging expertise in both technology and agronomy, the joint venture seeks to enhance national food sovereignty and elevate exports of high-demand crops such as citrus fruits and berries.
Faissal Sehbaoui, CEO of DAUMTECH, emphasized the significance of this venture, stating, “DAUMTECH marks the inception of a new era in precision agriculture, signifying a major transition towards more resilient farming practices to address the challenges posed by climate change.”
The digitized tools envisaged by DAUMTECH include advanced solutions for reasoned fertilization management, precision irrigation, predictive analytics for crop yields, and innovative carbon farming techniques. These initiatives are designed to harness Morocco's wealth of agricultural knowledge, transforming it into accessible, cutting-edge resources for farmers nationwide and in the broader region.
Sehbaoui expressed enthusiasm about the unique collaboration, noting, "This partnership will enable Moroccan agriculture to shine globally through AgriTech." By merging economic efficiency with environmental preservation, the joint venture aspires to solidify Morocco’s position as a hub for sustainable agriculture, showcasing a harmonious balance between prosperity and ecological responsibility.
