Tragic Incident at Rabat-Agdal Station Claims the Life of a 4-Year-Old Child
An unfortunate incident unfolded earlier this month at Rabat-Agdal train station, resulting in the devastating demise of a 4-year-old child. The heart-wrenching episode occurred when the young victim fell from a significant height down an escalator, reportedly after a glass guardrail had been removed. This alarming development has prompted authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
According to preliminary police statements, the child was in the company of his father, an Iraqi national, embarking on a journey from Kenitra. The duo arrived at Rabat station around 9:45 pm, and tragedy struck as the child ascended the moving automated stairs. During this time, a portion of the glass panel barrier was allegedly removed, leading to the young boy's fall of over 10 meters to the ground below.
Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, attending to the injured child who suffered severe hemorrhaging. Civil protection personnel expedited his transportation to Souissi Children’s Hospital. Regrettably, the child succumbed to his injuries just before reaching the hospital.
