Morocco has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to international solidarity through its response to the recent floods in Spain. The Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, emphasized this spirit of cooperation during a visit to Valencia, highlighting the robust ties that bind Rabat and Madrid.

Speaking at a relief center hosting Moroccan teams deployed to aid flood-affected areas, Ambassador Benyaich underscored that this mobilization reflects Morocco’s dedication to humanitarian causes, following the directives of King Mohammed VI. The Kingdom’s swift response underscores its determination to assist victims and mitigate the impact of this natural disaster.

Accompanied by the Consul General of Morocco in Valencia, Said Drissi El Bouzaidi, the ambassador also highlighted the strategic and enduring relationship between Morocco and Spain. These ties, rooted in mutual respect, friendship, and solidarity, serve as the foundation for such cooperative efforts.

Ambassador Benyaich also commended the exemplary involvement of the Moroccan community in Spain, who actively embody the values of mutual aid and solidarity intrinsic to Moroccan culture.

Spanish officials echoed these sentiments, praising Morocco’s swift and effective support. Susana Crisóstomo Sanz, the Undersecretary of Spain’s Ministry of the Interior, lauded the professionalism of the Moroccan teams and recognized their essential contributions to the relief efforts. She noted that Morocco was the first country to respond to Spain’s call for assistance, a gesture that the Spanish people deeply appreciate.

Pilar Bernabé, the government delegate in Valencia, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the region’s residents, emphasizing the fraternal spirit demonstrated by the Moroccan teams.

The event also featured a video showcasing the Moroccan teams' efforts in rescue and recovery operations, further highlighting their significant role in addressing the crisis.

Attendees included Virginia Barcones, Spain’s Director General of Civil Protection, as well as regional and local officials. Before the event, Ambassador Benyaich met with over 40 Moroccan volunteers, symbolizing the unity and commitment of both nations in facing shared challenges.

This gesture of solidarity not only underscores the depth of Morocco and Spain’s relationship but also serves as a testament to the power of international cooperation in overcoming adversity.
