Morocco's dynamic path to innovation and investment

In a speech delivered in Paris, Morocco’s Minister for Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, invited Moroccan talents worldwide to join the Kingdom’s "momentum of dynamism and transformation." Highlighting the government's commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, Seghrouchni emphasized that Morocco’s stable political environment and clear governance, inspired by the proactive vision of King Mohammed VI, offer investors the necessary confidence and stability.

The Minister was speaking at the opening of the 16th Entrepreneurship Day, organized by the “Moroccan Entrepreneurs” association, which celebrates 25 years of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation within the Moroccan diaspora in France. The event, held under the theme "Morocco: Land of Investment and Entrepreneurship," gathered prominent figures from the Moroccan entrepreneurial scene, both from Morocco and France.

Seghrouchni recognized the annual event as a key meeting for Moroccan professionals and students across Europe and praised the association’s role in fostering synergies between Moroccan talent and the opportunities within the Kingdom. She noted that the gathering is a testament to Morocco’s vision of becoming a hub for innovation and investment.

The Minister stressed that the government’s 2021-2026 program includes initiatives to enhance innovation and provide financial support for startups, particularly in the digital sector. She mentioned the “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which focuses on supporting startups by implementing a Startup Policy, establishing financing mechanisms, and creating a regulatory environment conducive to innovation.

Additionally, the Moroccan government aims to make it easier for startups to access both public and private markets, enhancing their growth prospects by collaborating with national and international partners. Through these efforts, Morocco seeks to create a structured ecosystem that nurtures innovation, offering tools such as venture capital and venture building to support startups through their growth stages.

With collaboration between Morocco and France in mind, Seghrouchni highlighted several cooperative agreements between the two nations aimed at stimulating investment across the Kingdom. Morocco ranks 6th in Africa for tech startup funding, with a significant portion of the region's capital raised, further solidifying its position as a leader in North Africa and Francophone Africa.

The event also discussed emerging investment opportunities linked to Morocco’s hosting of the 2030 World Cup, which is expected to be a transformative catalyst for the country’s economy and digital sector. The government aims to capitalize on these opportunities, focusing on fields such as green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies.

The 16th edition of Entrepreneurship Day also marked the conclusion of the "Tremplin Maroc" program, which assists Moroccans in the diaspora to launch businesses in Morocco. This initiative plays a crucial role in encouraging economic development by connecting Moroccan entrepreneurs with the Kingdom’s growing investment opportunities.
