Tragic air ambulance crash in Philadelphia claims six lives
An air ambulance carrying a child who had just finished treatment for a life-threatening illness, along with her mother and four other individuals, tragically crashed in a Philadelphia neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff, at around 6 pm on Friday, when the plane exploded into a fireball, engulfing nearby homes. Local news footage captured the devastating scene.
The aircraft, a Learjet 55 operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, had four crew members on board in addition to the passengers. All six individuals were Mexican nationals, according to the country’s foreign ministry. The child, who had received medical treatment at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, was being transported back to her home in Mexico. The flight was headed to Tijuana, with a brief stop in Missouri.
The crash occurred just days after a separate aviation disaster in Washington, DC, where a passenger plane collided with a military helicopter, killing 67 people. Following the Philadelphia incident, local authorities reported that several homes and vehicles were consumed by flames.
Philadelphia’s mayor and Pennsylvania’s governor expressed deep condolences, acknowledging the tragedy and offering prayers for those affected. U.S. President Donald Trump also shared his sorrow over the incident, praising the first responders' efforts.
