Pakistan Senate President Commends Morocco's Counter-Terrorism Strategy

In a notable address in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Syed Yussuf Raza Gilani, the President of the Pakistan Senate, praised Morocco's effective policies in combating terrorism, extremism, and illegal migration. This commendation came during a meeting with Mohamed Ould Errachid, President of Morocco's House of Councillors, held on the sidelines of the 150th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

During their discussions, Gilani expressed Pakistan's interest in leveraging Morocco's expertise in these critical areas. He emphasized the necessity of enhancing cooperation between the two nations by exchanging knowledge and skills, particularly in information and communication technologies.

This dialogue reflects the "fraternal" ties between Morocco and Pakistan, fostered under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Asif Ali Zardari. Errachid outlined the foundation of their relationship, which is built on shared values, fruitful collaboration, mutual respect, and a collective desire to strengthen bilateral ties across various sectors.

Errachid reiterated Morocco's commitment to bolstering cooperation with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest. He highlighted the importance of invigorating economic and trade relations, encouraging Pakistani business leaders to invest in Morocco, especially in the southern provinces, which present significant investment potential and infrastructural advantages for regional development.

Furthermore, he underscored the vital role of economic diplomacy in enhancing cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, particularly in light of the global challenges in security, economy, and environment.

In this context, the President of the House of Councillors emphasized the importance of South-South cooperation and win-win exchanges as key mechanisms for integration. He also acknowledged the crucial role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening relations between Morocco and Pakistan, expressing a "strong commitment" from the House of Councillors to enhance collaboration and coordination with the Pakistan Senate across various parliamentary interests.

Looking ahead, the upcoming Third South-South Parliamentary Dialogue Forum scheduled for April 28-29, 2025, in Morocco, where the Pakistan Senate is invited to participate alongside senators from geopolitical groups across Africa, Asia, Arab nations, and the Americas, will provide a platform to discuss future initiatives and collaborative efforts in addressing the growing international challenges.
