Record number of pilgrims perform Hajj and Umrah in 2024

Nearly 18.5 million individuals completed the Hajj and Umrah in 2024, as reported by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This impressive figure is attributed to various initiatives aimed at enhancing capacity, developing airports, expanding transportation networks, and implementing technological systems and applications like "TawakKalna" and "Nusuk."

The effective organization of the Umrah and Hajj seasons, praised by international organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO), highlights the performance of the hospitality sector and the quality of accommodation, particularly in the holy sites of Islam.

According to tourism ministry data, the hospitality sector in Mecca alone saw an 80% growth rate in 2024 compared to the previous year, with over 1,000 hotels and accommodation facilities authorized.

Mecca now boasts more than 1,150 hospitality establishments and over 260,000 hotel rooms, in addition to more than 4,000 serviced apartments. Furthermore, the "HMH" group announced the addition of 1,300 new hotel rooms this year. In Medina, the number of hospitality facilities reached 347 by the end of 2024, with approximately 1,500 serviced apartments.

This remarkable performance in the hospitality sector at the holy sites is a direct outcome of the Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to promote this sector further. In line with this vision, Saudi Arabia launched the "Doyof Al Rahman" program in 2016, which seeks to enhance the experiences of visitors under
