Spanish Army Helicopter Battalion Conducts Joint Exercises in Ceuta and Melilla
The Spanish Army’s VI Maneuver Helicopter Battalion (Bhelma VI), operating under the Canary Islands Command, is carrying out joint military exercises in the Spanish-administered enclaves of Ceuta (Sebta) and Melilla.
These exercises, part of the annual training program led by the General Command of Ceuta, are designed to enhance the battalion’s readiness and operational efficiency. Similar training initiatives are conducted in other Spanish territories, including Melilla, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands.
The drills incorporate a mix of tactical and strategic operations, such as signaling, embarkation and disembarkation procedures, and airlifted troop transport. These maneuvers aim to simulate real-world scenarios and prepare the battalion for diverse missions.
Bhelma VI’s primary role is to provide airmobile support to units under the Canary Islands Command. Additionally, the battalion is equipped to deploy helicopters for international missions and to deliver humanitarian assistance to communities in need.
