Empowering Moroccan Artisans: Key Partnerships Sealed in Casablanca
Casablanca, Morocco - This week marked a significant stride forward in bolstering Morocco's craft industry and elevating its global presence. On February 28, 2024, amidst National Artisan Week, pivotal partnerships were forged between the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, the House of Crafts, and Barid Al-Maghrib Group with the aim of empowering artisans.
The signing ceremony convened in Casablanca, bringing together key figures including Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Tarik Sadik, Director General of the House of Crafts, and Amin Benjelloun Touimi, Director General of Barid Al-Maghrib Group, to solidify these agreements.
The primary focus of the first agreement is to amplify the operational efficiency of Moroccan craft sector participants, primarily by facilitating exports to global markets and instituting preferential pricing structures for craftspeople.
The second agreement involves Barid Al-Maghrib's commitment to issuing a series of commemorative stamps, commencing in 2024 as part of their philatelic programs. These stamps will serve as a platform to showcase Morocco's rich cultural heritage and the remarkable craftsmanship of its artisans.
This collaborative framework underscores the collective dedication of these institutions towards propelling the industry forward. These agreements formalize concerted efforts to spotlight Moroccan crafts on the global stage, thereby expanding avenues for artisans both domestically and internationally. Overall, these partnerships mark a pivotal advancement in enhancing the visibility and competitiveness of Moroccan crafts on the international spectrum.
