Unveiling the Deception: Algerian National Claims Moroccan Heritage, Sparking Controversy in Malaysia
The contentious figure known as Mawla Amin, whose true identity is Mohamed Amin Ouradji, has stirred unrest in Malaysia with his audacious claims of being a descendant of Prophet Muhammad. However, investigations conducted by authorities in Malaysia and Morocco have unequivocally revealed Ouradji's fraudulent nature.
Ouradji, a French-Algerian national born in Algiers in 1984, established a sect in Malaysia where he purportedly offered spiritual guidance for the apocalypse. This drew the attention of Malaysian authorities, who closely monitored his activities. When he escalated his assertions to declare himself as the 38th direct descendant of the Prophet, it prompted intensified scrutiny.
Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs, Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, took the unprecedented step of issuing a public warning, urging citizens to steer clear of extremism associated with Ouradji. Mokhtar emphasized that authorities would thoroughly investigate any exploitation of religion for personal gain.
In pursuit of the truth, Malaysian officials notified Moroccan counterparts about Ouradji's activities last year. Morocco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs promptly responded with evidence debunking Ouradji's claims.
Official records confirm that Ouradji holds dual French-Algerian citizenship, having first visited Morocco in 2006 and marrying a Moroccan woman in 2014. Contrary to his assertions, Moroccan religious authorities affirmed that Ouradji has no lineage ties to Prophet Muhammad's esteemed clan.
The Ministry's statement clarified that as an Algerian national, Ouradji deceitfully exploited Morocco's reputation to deceive followers in Asia. Regional religious experts unanimously disavow his teachings and activities.
Despite global exposure of his deceit, Ouradji persists in disseminating his claims among his followers in Malaysia, who refer to him as "Mawla Amin." An Islamic scholar in Malaysia now faces charges for promoting Ouradji's sect and illicitly collecting public funds.
As authorities intensify scrutiny of this fraudulent cleric, this case underscores the imperative of vigilance against those who exploit religion to perpetrate dangerous falsehoods on unsuspecting believers.
