Mehdi Rais Honored with Sharjah Government Communication Award for Innovation
In a notable achievement for Moroccan innovation and digital advancement, Mehdi Rais, President of the Foundation for Development Initiatives, received the 11th Sharjah Government Communication Award on Thursday. Rais was recognized in the category of "Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication" among a competitive field of 4,000 international submissions.
Rais, who is the visionary behind Morocco’s "Citizen Office" initiative, was presented with the award by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council. This accolade not only celebrates Rais’s contributions but also underscores Morocco's progress in entrepreneurial and technological development within the framework of the "Morocco Digital 2030" strategy.
Holding a PhD in International Relations, International Law, and Diplomatic Affairs, Rais stated in an interview with MAP that the Foundation for Development Initiatives is dedicated to enhancing communication between government departments and citizens at national, regional, and local levels. The digital platform, which is central to the "Citizen Office" initiative, aims to improve access to information, streamline administrative procedures, and encourage civic engagement.
The award ceremony took place at the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in Sharjah, which also recognized numerous other winners across various categories. The two-day forum, themed "Flexible Governments: Innovative Communication," featured discussions, constructive dialogues, and workshops focused on the role of government communication in economic resilience, its influence on adventure tourism, and sectoral opportunities.
