Smooth Sailing: Morocco's Marhaba 2024 Welcomes 1.9 Million Travelers
Moroccan ports have efficiently managed the transit of nearly 1.9 million travelers and 447,000 vehicles during the "Marhaba 2024" operation, as announced by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
The operation, running from June 5 to August 15, has proceeded under favorable conditions. Moroccan ports have welcomed approximately 1.33 million passengers and 317,000 vehicles inbound, while 570,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles have traveled to Europe.
Peak days were recorded on August 3 and 4, with over 80,000 passengers and 20,000 vehicles entering Morocco, indicating a significant influx.
The ministry has mobilized technical and logistical resources to ensure smooth execution, including adequate transport capacity for Moroccans residing abroad. They've diversified maritime routes and focused on high-quality services while monitoring crossing prices.
For the return phase, travelers are urged to book tickets in advance and confirm travel details for all routes, including "Tanger Med – Algeciras" and "Tanger Ville – Tarifa." Changes should be coordinated with maritime companies remotely to prevent congestion.
"Marhaba" is an annual initiative by the Moroccan government to facilitate the summer return of expatriates, typically operating from June to September, managing the large influx of travelers, especially from Europe.
