As the crescent moon ushers in the holy festival of Eid Al-Adha, Morocco stands prepared to embrace the occasion with an abundance of sacrificial livestock. The Moroccan government has meticulously orchestrated a comprehensive plan, ensuring that the nation's culinary traditions are upheld with a bountiful supply that surpasses even the most voracious of demands.

In a Council of Government convening on Thursday, the stage was set for a seamless celebration. Mohamed Sadiki, the esteemed Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development, and Forests, took center stage, unveiling the multifaceted measures that have been diligently implemented.

Mustapha Baitas, the government's eloquent spokesperson and Deputy Minister in Charge of Relations with Parliament, briefed the media on the key developments and decisions that emerged from the council's deliberations.

Sadiki's presentation painted a vivid picture of a nation poised to revel in the festivities. He underscored the collaborative efforts with industry professionals to assess the supply of livestock, as well as the meticulous process of identifying and cataloging each sheep and goat destined for the occasion's rituals.

With unwavering confidence, the minister affirmed that the supply of livestock far outstrips the demand, a testament to the nation's preparedness. Moreover, the process of assigning identification numbers to the animals in the market has witnessed a remarkable surge, ensuring traceability and accountability.

Addressing the nation's potential concerns, Sadiki offered reassuring updates on the health of Morocco's livestock. The government's vigilant surveillance and rigorous protection measures against infectious diseases have safeguarded the well-being of these cherished animals. As a testament to these efforts, a staggering 1,486 operations have been conducted to control food and veterinary medicines up until May 31, 2024.

Recognizing the challenges posed by the unyielding drought, the government proactively took measures to bolster the supply chain. By temporarily opening up international imports, they ensured an abundant supply, thereby fortifying the nation's livestock reserves.
