Mona Morad Highlights Africa's Potential at the MEDays Forum in Tangier
The 16th edition of the MEDays International Forum officially began today in Tangier, under the theme "Sovereignties and Resilience: Towards a New Global Balance." Organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the event brings together over 250 high-profile speakers, including heads of state, policymakers, Nobel Prize laureates, and international business leaders. More than 6,000 participants from over 100 countries are attending this prestigious event.
From the opening session, discussions tackled major global and regional issues, such as economic challenges, geopolitical strategies, and the opportunities for resilience in developing nations.
Mona Morad: “Africa Must Harness Its Immense Potential”
During the inaugural session, Mona Morad, co-founder and CEO of the Egyptian company On Air Group, delivered a detailed analysis of Africa’s investment challenges and opportunities. In an exclusive statement to Walaw, she emphasized: “Africa is incredibly rich in resources, yet it faces significant structural challenges, particularly in infrastructure and financing mechanisms. To attract sustainable investment, we must establish a stable and supportive framework while fostering collaboration between public and private sectors.”
She also highlighted Morocco's progress as an example for other African countries: “Morocco has shown that investing in modern infrastructure and embracing international trade can position a country as a regional economic hub. This approach has allowed Morocco to strengthen its strategic role between Africa and Europe.”
Morocco and Egypt: Complementary Actors for Africa
Addressing cooperation between Morocco and Egypt, Mona Morad underscored the complementary roles these two nations can play in Africa’s development: “Morocco and Egypt are not competitors; they are collaborators. Each country contributes unique expertise that can drive Africa towards a prosperous future. Greater economic integration and intra-African trade are key to achieving this.”
A Platform for Rethinking the Global Balance
The MEDays 2024 Forum continues to serve as a crucial space for addressing strategic challenges and envisioning future solutions. From energy sovereignty to digital transformation, the discussions promise to deliver valuable insights throughout the event.
