Morocco reaffirms its commitment to a peaceful solution

In a speech delivered on Friday evening, HM King Mohammed VI welcomed the adoption by the United Nations Security Council of a resolution seen as a decisive step in resolving the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. This decision, taken in New York, strengthens the diplomatic momentum initiated by the Kingdom in favor of a sustainable political solution based on the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.

In his address, the King expressed Morocco’s appreciation to the countries that have contributed to this significant development. He emphasized that this support reflects a growing understanding of the legitimacy of Morocco’s position and a shared commitment to stability and regional cooperation.

The Monarch gave special recognition to the United States of America, highlighting its constructive role and strategic partnership with the Kingdom. He also conveyed Morocco’s gratitude to several European nations, including Great Britain, Spain and, especially, France, for their continued support.

The message of appreciation was extended to Arab and African countries that have consistently backed the Moroccan identity of the Sahara. The royal speech reiterated the importance of the historical, political, and human ties linking Morocco to its regional and continental environment.

With a tone marked by moderation and responsibility, the King stressed that Morocco does not seek confrontation nor symbolic triumph. The Kingdom remains committed to a balanced solution, “without winners or losers,” favoring dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect.

Delivered on the same day as a vote described by many observers as a diplomatic turning point, this speech reflects Morocco’s determination to transform this progress into sustainable gains in the service of peace, development, and regional stability.
