Indonesian suspect wanted by Interpol arrested in Marrakech
Moroccan police authorities have arrested a 63-year-old Indonesian national in the city of Marrakech after discovering that he was the subject of an international arrest request issued through Interpol.
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Brigade Nationale de la Police Judiciaire in coordination with local police services. Authorities confirmed that the suspect had been flagged in Interpol’s database with a red notice issued at the request of Indonesia’s national central bureau in Jakarta.
According to Moroccan security officials from the Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale, the individual is suspected of involvement in financial corruption and major manipulation of Indonesia’s capital markets. These alleged crimes are considered serious offenses under Indonesian law.
After his arrest, the suspect was placed under a legal procedure related to international extradition. Moroccan authorities also notified the Interpol office in Rabat to inform Indonesian officials of the detention and initiate the necessary legal steps for a potential transfer of the suspect to his home country.
The case highlights Morocco’s ongoing cooperation with international law enforcement agencies in combating transnational crime and strengthening global judicial collaboration.
