Morocco included in US F-16 radar upgrade program

The United States Department of Defense has announced a major radar modernization program for F-16 fighter jets, explicitly including Morocco among the partner nations. This initiative is part of broader strategic investments in aerospace, ballistic, and naval systems.

According to Pentagon documents, the program involves contracts with industry giants such as Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, covering the next decade. Lockheed Martin will expand its role in the Mk21A Reentry Vehicle ballistic program, with modifications valued at $453.96 million, bringing the total contract to $1.48 billion, with work scheduled through September 2032 in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $303.6 million contract for the refurbishment and delivery of F-16 radar systems to foreign military customers under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. The initiative specifically names Bahrain, Bulgaria, Greece, South Korea, Slovakia, Taiwan, Morocco, and Jordan. Initial funding for Morocco was set at $2.7 million, with project completion targeted for November 2030.

The program is managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, which coordinates the work across multiple partner nations.

This announcement solidifies Morocco’s participation in a key US military modernization program, further strengthening the strategic partnership between Rabat and Washington.
