Marrakech launches first international MBD padel festival event

Marrakech is set to host the first edition of the MBD Padel Cup Festival, positioning the city as a growing hub for international padel. The event will take place from 4 to 7 June 2026 at Urban Padel Marrakech and will bring together sport, entertainment and social engagement in a single multi-day format.

Organisers expect 160 players, divided into 80 men’s and women’s teams. The competition will award three main titles: the MBD Champions League 2026, the Europa MBD 2026 and the women’s trophy of the MBD Padel Cup Festival 2026. Group-stage matches will open the tournament, followed by knockout rounds leading to semi-finals and finals on 6 June, before a closing ceremony and gala night.

Beyond competition, the festival will feature a wider programme of exhibitions, performances and public interactions involving athletes, public figures and fans. The format aims to expand padel’s visibility and strengthen its appeal among international audiences as the sport continues its rapid growth across new markets.

The event will also host former professional footballers and well-known sports personalities, including Christian Karembeu, Mustapha Hadji, Javier Pastore, Robert Pirès, Samir Nasri and Ludovic Giuly. Their participation is intended to reinforce the festival’s entertainment dimension and attract broader media and public attention.

A solidarity component is integrated into the programme through a partnership with SOS Villages d’Enfants Maroc. A dedicated day on 7 June will include sports workshops, activities and a friendly match focused on promoting social inclusion through sport. Organisers also plan to expand the concept internationally, with future editions scheduled in Barcelona and Dubai.
