Drone delivery for medical supplies during Hajj a successful first in the Holy Sites
Saudi authorities have successfully completed the first experimental drone delivery operation for medical supplies in the Holy Sites of Mecca during Hajj 1446 H.
This innovative project aims to enhance the efficiency of healthcare services provided to pilgrims, according to the Saudi Ministry of Health’s website.
Through collaboration between the Mecca Health Cluster and the national company Nupco, which specializes in supplying medicines and medical equipment, drones facilitated the rapid transportation of medicines and medical materials to various facilities, including the Mina emergency hospital.
The drone delivery service involves several critical steps: determining the required quantities, coordinating with healthcare facilities, and organizing logistics in accordance with Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) standards.
Medicines and medical supplies are packaged, documented, and sent to care sites in the Holy Places. The final stage ensures inventory monitoring through a control system, guaranteeing the smooth and secure operation of the delivery process.
According to the Ministry of Health, this achievement supports the Saudi government’s efforts to provide a safe and optimal environment for pilgrims, aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
