Iran warns US, UK, and France: Regional bases at risk over intervention in Israel conflict
Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, threatening to target their military bases and naval assets in the region if they intervene to halt Tehran's ongoing strikes against Israel. The escalation comes amid a second day of intense hostilities between the two nations, with Israel launching its most extensive air offensive to date.
mounting casualties and continued missile strikes
Iranian state media reported that an Israeli airstrike on a residential complex in Tehran killed 60 people, including 20 children, marking a significant escalation in the conflict. Additional attacks targeted a missile facility in Assadabad and the Tabriz oil refinery in northwestern Iran, where smoke was seen rising from the facility.
In response, Iran has continued retaliatory missile strikes against Israel, with Iranian state agencies indicating plans to expand their targeting to include American military installations in the region. Senior Iranian officials described their actions as part of an ongoing confrontation that would be "painful and regrettable" for their adversaries.
warnings of broader conflict
Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, issued a sharp response, warning Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that “Tehran will burn” if missile attacks on Israeli civilians persist. Katz accused the Iranian leadership of endangering its own citizens and warned of severe consequences if the aggression continues.
The conflict has now raised fears of a broader war, as Israel’s airstrikes on Thursday and Friday targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, missile factories, and leading military commanders. These strikes were described as a preemptive measure to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Iranian officials, however, have vowed to continue their missile campaign, signaling a prolonged escalation in the coming days.
iran shuts down airspace
As tensions rise, Iran’s civil aviation authority announced the closure of the country’s airspace "until further notice" to ensure passenger safety. All flights have been suspended across Iranian airports as hostilities continue to intensify.
deepening regional instability
The confrontation has disrupted regional stability, with both nations trading threats and escalating their military actions. Iranian officials accused Western powers, particularly the U.S., of complicity in Israel’s actions, while Israel defended its strikes as necessary for national security. The situation remains volatile as analysts warn of the potential for the conflict to spiral into a broader regional war.
