Olivier Poivre d’Arvor: Morocco's vision for the entire continent through royal initiatives
Olivier Poivre d’Arvor emphasized that thanks to the initiatives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has developed a vision not just for itself but for the entire African continent. In an interview with MAP, he highlighted that royal initiatives, starting with projects like the Tanger Med and Nador ports, are steering Africa towards a clear maritime future.
During the "Africa for the Ocean" summit, co-chaired by Princess Lalla Hasnaa and French President Emmanuel Macron, Poivre d’Arvor praised the gathering of numerous African nations around the concepts of blue economy, ocean protection, and governance. He remarked on the significance of this moment, noting that African coastal populations have not fully benefited from their maritime resources.
He also pointed out the Royal Atlantic Initiative, which aims to enhance access for landlocked African countries by providing port infrastructure. Poivre d’Arvor stressed that Morocco uniquely takes the issue of its continent seriously, especially in the context of the UN Ocean Conference.
He expressed optimism about collaboration between France and Morocco to create a vision for enhanced connectivity across Europe, the Mediterranean, and Africa. He believes this partnership can effectively address current global challenges.
In closing, he praised Morocco's remarkable dynamism during the conference, noting its role in leading other countries towards a long-term perspective and fostering solidarity within the region.
