Zelensky urges Belarus to distance itself from the war in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Belarus to reduce its involvement in Russia’s military efforts, warning that continued support for Moscow could further destabilize the region and increase tensions along the shared border.

In a public statement, Zelensky expressed concern over what Ukrainian authorities describe as growing cooperation between Belarusian entities and the Russian military. According to Kyiv, specialized equipment positioned near the Belarus-Ukraine border has allegedly been used to facilitate drone operations targeting Ukrainian territory. Ukrainian officials have also raised concerns about the participation of certain Belarusian companies in supplying components that could support Russia’s military activities.

The Ukrainian president urged Belarusian authorities to demonstrate their commitment to peace by dismantling infrastructure linked to military operations and by distancing themselves from actions that could contribute to the conflict. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine remains vigilant regarding developments along its northern border and is prepared to strengthen its defensive measures if necessary.
