Zelenskiy says around 20 countries interested in drone deals with Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced that nearly 20 countries are currently engaged in discussions with Ukraine over potential drone-related defense agreements, highlighting the country’s growing role in modern military technology cooperation.
According to Zelenskiy, four agreements have already been signed, while additional contracts are now being prepared for implementation. He made the announcement via social media, emphasizing that negotiations are progressing at different stages depending on each partner country.
Ukraine has significantly expanded its international defense partnerships in recent months, particularly in the field of drone warfare. Since the escalation of regional conflicts and global security tensions, Kyiv has positioned its drone technology expertise as a key strategic asset in diplomatic relations.
Over the past year, Ukraine has signed defense and drone-related agreements with several European countries, including Germany, Norway, and the Netherlands. These deals aim to strengthen military cooperation, technology sharing, and long-term security collaboration.
In parallel, Ukraine has also developed broader strategic partnerships with countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Additional agreements have been established with Azerbaijan, covering both defense and energy cooperation.
Officials in Kyiv say these partnerships are not limited to military equipment, but also include logistics, energy support, and industrial cooperation. Ukrainian authorities have also indicated that new security frameworks involving drone technology are being prepared with partners outside Europe, although no specific countries have been named.
Analysts note that Ukraine’s ability to expand its defense industry partnerships reflects a broader shift in modern warfare, where unmanned systems and drone technologies play an increasingly central role. The country has also benefited from international interest in its battlefield-tested experience.
Ukrainian officials say these agreements are also helping stabilize supply chains and improve access to fuel and military resources, strengthening the country’s resilience amid ongoing security challenges.
