Wydad Casablanca ends losing run with victory over Difaâ El Jadida

Wydad Casablanca opened its points account in the Botola Pro D1 “Inwi” with a 2-0 away victory over Difaâ El Jadida on Saturday, giving the Casablanca side an important response after its opening-day defeat.

The match at El Abdi Stadium was decided by goals from Oussama Zemraoui and Silvère Ganvoula, who struck in the 27th and 59th minutes respectively.

Zemraoui puts Wydad ahead

Wydad took control of the scoreboard before the half-hour mark when Zemraoui found the net in the 27th minute. The goal gave the visitors a lead they carried into the interval and provided a solid platform for the second half.

Difaâ El Jadida struggled to turn its opportunities into a response, while Wydad remained focused on protecting its advantage and looking for a second goal.

Ganvoula seals the three points

Wydad doubled its lead in the 59th minute through Ganvoula, putting the visitors in a commanding position for the remainder of the contest.

The result gives Wydad its first three points of the campaign following its defeat in the opening round. The Casablanca club now occupies eighth place in the early Botola standings.

For Difaâ El Jadida, the result extends a difficult start to the season. The Doukkala-based side has now suffered two consecutive defeats and remains at the bottom of the table.

The hosts' task became even more difficult late in the match when Zakaria Oubraim was sent off in the 86th minute, leaving Difaâ El Jadida with 10 players for the closing stages.

Wydad will now look to build on this away success as the Casablanca club seeks greater consistency in the opening phase of the Botola campaign.
