Wahib El Antary Joins Morocco U17 After Previous Egypt Youth Experience
Morocco’s U17 setup has added another dual-national prospect to its September squad, with Wahib El Antary joining Ahmed El Kantari’s group ahead of the Copa España in Spain.
The 17-year-old Angers player is part of a 28-man Moroccan selection for the current international gathering, marking a significant development in his young international career after previously experiencing the Egyptian youth national-team environment.
El Antary had taken part in an Egypt youth training camp in July 2025. According to Cairo24 Sport, his performances attracted the attention of Egyptian youth coach Ahmed El Kass, while Egyptian officials reportedly sought to re-establish contact with the player in recent weeks.
His appearance on Morocco’s latest U17 list has now placed his international future firmly in the spotlight.
From Egyptian youth setup to Morocco’s Lionceaux
El Antary has joined the Moroccan squad at the Mohammed VI Football Complex as the team prepares for the Copa España, scheduled in Salou from September 24 to 29.
The tournament represents an important opportunity for the teenager to become familiar with Morocco’s youth football structure and work alongside a generation being closely monitored by the national federation.
For El Kantari’s coaching staff, the gathering also provides a chance to assess the player in a competitive international environment and determine how his qualities can fit into the team’s tactical plans.
His presence with Morocco does not necessarily eliminate every possibility of a future international switch, given his age and previous involvement with Egypt’s youth setup. For now, however, the focus is on his integration with the Moroccan U17 group.
A player developed in France
El Antary has built much of his football development in France. He joined Angers after coming through at SO Cholet and was initially presented by his club as a right winger, although some reports have classified him more broadly as a midfielder.
His move into the Angers youth system has allowed him to continue his development within the French academy structure, including at U19 level.
At 17, the player remains at an early stage of his career. His involvement with Morocco’s U17s gives him an opportunity to gain international experience while competing for a regular place within the Lionceaux de l’Atlas setup.
Copa España offers a first opportunity
The upcoming tournament in Salou will be an important test for El Antary as he adapts to a new international environment.
Beyond gaining experience, the winger will have the opportunity to demonstrate his technical and attacking qualities to the Moroccan coaching staff. Consistent performances could strengthen his position within the youth setup as the national team continues to monitor emerging talent.
For Morocco, his arrival adds another dual-national profile to a youth generation that remains an important part of the country’s long-term football development.
