Valencia economic delegation to visit Tangier amid growing Morocco-Spain trade

A high-level economic delegation from Spain’s Valencia region will visit Tangier on June 2 and 3 to reinforce trade and investment ties with Morocco.

Organized by the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Chamber of Commerce, and the Moroccan Consulate General in Valencia, the mission will serve as a platform for regional cooperation.

Leading the delegation is Marian Cano, regional minister for Innovation and Industry. She will be accompanied by representatives from strategic sectors such as agri-food, textiles, tourism infrastructure, sports facilities, construction, transportation, and financial services. CaixaBank is among the financial institutions participating in the visit.

The mission will also feature the presidents of the Chambers of Commerce from Valencia, Alicante, Orihuela, and Alcoy, underlining a shared commitment to structured bilateral engagement.

The agenda opens on Monday, June 2, at 9:30 a.m. at the headquarters of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Chamber of Commerce. The session will bring together institutional figures and business leaders from both countries to discuss regional development strategies and initiate cross-border collaboration.

Following the session, Moroccan and Spanish companies will engage in business-to-business meetings aimed at building direct commercial partnerships.

Delegates will also tour the Tangier Med port, one of Africa’s largest logistics hubs. The visit will highlight Morocco’s infrastructure and its strategic location for international trade.

The mission reflects the ongoing strengthening of economic relations between Morocco and Spain. On May 28, four investment agreements worth MAD 500 million (approximately $50 million) were signed in Rabat between the Moroccan government and Catalan businesses.

The agreements, concluded during a meeting between Minister Delegate for Investment Karim Zidane and a Catalan delegation led by Foment del Treball president Josep Sánchez Llibre, will generate more than 700 direct jobs in Tangier, Tetouan, and Kenitra. Sectors impacted include automotive, waste management, industrial packaging, and construction materials.

Sánchez Llibre confirmed that investment momentum will continue. Another Catalan delegation comprising around twenty companies is scheduled to visit Morocco within the next year. This follows the “Morocco Now” roadshows in Barcelona (January 2024), Madrid (April 2025), and Foment’s inaugural mission to Morocco in June 2024.
