Uzbekistan pledges meaningful contribution to Gaza reconstruction efforts
Uzbekistan has announced its intention to play an active role in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stating that his country is ready to make a “meaningful contribution” to rebuilding key civilian infrastructure.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington, Mirziyoyev outlined Uzbekistan’s willingness to support the construction of residential buildings, kindergartens, schools and hospitals in Gaza. He emphasized that such efforts are essential to restoring basic services and improving living conditions for the population.
The Uzbek leader expressed confidence that the initiative would help create a favorable environment for Gaza’s economic and social recovery. He described the gathering as a reflection of international solidarity and a shared determination to stabilize the Middle East.
“Uzbekistan firmly supports the peacekeeping initiative and intends to take a practical role in ensuring its successful implementation,” Mirziyoyev said, highlighting his country’s commitment to long-term development rather than short-term assistance alone.
He also underscored the political momentum behind the initiative, noting that the summit was made possible through the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump. According to Mirziyoyev, sustained diplomatic engagement and pragmatic cooperation are key to achieving lasting peace and reconstruction.
The pledge comes amid extensive damage to Gaza’s civilian infrastructure following months of conflict. Large portions of housing, healthcare facilities and educational institutions have been severely affected, creating urgent humanitarian and reconstruction needs.
By stepping forward with reconstruction support, Uzbekistan signals its intention to expand its diplomatic footprint beyond Central Asia and contribute to broader international recovery efforts in the Middle East.
