US Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Moroccan Sovereignty Over the Sahara
The United States has once again reiterated its unwavering stance on Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. Massad Boulos, Special Advisor for Africa to former President Donald Trump, emphasized in an exclusive that the US position is “clear and unequivocal.”
“Our position has been expressed repeatedly and in the clearest terms,” Boulos stated, referencing recent remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He recalled the same position conveyed by President Trump directly to King Mohammed VI, affirming full American recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and strong support for the autonomy plan proposed by Rabat as a solution to the conflict.
Boulos dismissed any alternative claims as “baseless approximations,” insisting the official US stance remains unchanged since Trump’s 2020 proclamation recognizing Moroccan sovereignty over the territory.
“No statement should be taken out of context or reinterpreted otherwise,” he warned, reinforcing that the autonomy initiative is seen by the US as a serious, credible, and realistic path to a lasting resolution.
