Ukrainian negotiators arrive in the U.S. for peace talks

Ukrainian negotiators have arrived in the United States for discussions with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, aiming to advance efforts to end nearly four years of conflict with Russia. The talks, scheduled in Miami, come amid ongoing Russian missile strikes and severe winter power outages across Ukraine.

Several critical issues remain unresolved, including the status of occupied territories and security guarantees for Ukraine. Kyrylo Budanov, a Ukrainian delegation member, described the meetings as “an important conversation” with U.S. partners, including the U.S. Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll.

President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the urgency of clarifying details of a proposed agreement and indicated that a signature could be possible during the World Economic Forum in Davos next week, provided all parties agree.

The negotiations continue a months-long effort by U.S. representatives to mediate separately with both Kiev and Moscow, with the goal of reaching a lasting ceasefire and political solution.
