Ukrainian court seeks pretrial detention for Former Zelensky adviser in corruption investigation
Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court has requested the pretrial detention of former senior presidential adviser Andriy Yermak as part of an investigation into alleged large-scale financial misconduct, according to Ukrainian media reports.
The court reportedly ordered a 60-day detention period unless bail estimated at approximately 140 million hryvnias is paid. Authorities suspect the former official of involvement in an alleged network linked to the diversion of public funds, although the investigation remains ongoing.
The case has attracted significant attention in Ukraine, where anti-corruption efforts continue to play a major role in political reforms and relations with international partners. Ukrainian authorities have intensified investigations into financial crimes and public sector accountability in recent years, especially amid ongoing economic and security challenges caused by the war.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly emphasized the importance of strengthening transparency and fighting corruption as part of Ukraine’s democratic and institutional reforms. International organizations and Western allies have also encouraged Kyiv to reinforce judicial independence and anti-corruption measures.
Legal experts note that high-profile investigations involving senior political figures often generate strong public debate, particularly during periods of national crisis. Analysts believe the outcome of the case could influence public confidence in Ukraine’s justice system and governance reforms.
The former official has not been convicted, and the judicial process is continuing under Ukrainian law.
