UK reaffirms commitment to strengthening strategic partnership with Morocco

The British government reiterated its dedication to deepening its strategic partnership with Morocco, emphasizing that it regards the Kingdom as an increasingly vital trade and investment partner. Michael Shanks, the British Under-Secretary of State for Energy Security and Energy Transition, stated that the UK is committed to further enhancing this partnership.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Shanks highlighted Morocco as a key strategic partner, particularly in areas such as clean energy, decarbonization, and climate change mitigation. He noted that the UK government sees Morocco as an attractive and innovative destination for investment, with British companies, supported by their government, aiming to expand their investments in the country.

Shanks also reminded that earlier in June, the two nations agreed to bolster their strategic ties during the visit of the British Foreign Secretary to Morocco. He added that the UK takes pride in collaborating with Morocco within the framework of the Breakthrough Agenda program, where both countries co-lead the energy component.

Moreover, London intends to continue supporting Morocco's ambitious renewable energy goals, notably through the COP Energy Transition Council. Finally, Shanks expressed enthusiasm about identifying and developing new avenues for cooperation in these promising and rapidly evolving sectors.
