British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has pledged to maintain the Labour Party’s tax commitments while pursuing reforms to the way adult social care is funded in England.

Speaking on Wednesday during discussions with care home residents, workers, volunteers, and sector representatives in London, Burnham said his government would remain bound by the commitments outlined in Labour’s 2024 election manifesto.

“There is a manifesto. There are commitments there on tax and I will stick to those commitments,” the prime minister said, reaffirming that the government would not increase the main rates of income tax, national insurance, or value-added tax.
