U17 World Cup: Victory against New Caledonia boosts Moroccan team’s confidence

The Morocco U17 national team regained confidence after their victory against New Caledonia on Wednesday in the third group stage match of the U17 World Cup in Qatar, according to coach Nabil Baha.

Speaking during a training session at Stadium Annex No.1 in Al Thumama, Baha emphasized that the win provided a boost for the entire squad. “The match against New Caledonia gave the team momentum, and the players are now more confident,” he said, adding that the team is ready to face the United States, a strong opponent, in the round of 16 on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Baha highlighted that advancing to the round of 16 marks the start of a new phase in the tournament: “Now all the teams are strong, like the United States, but they remain just another opponent.” He also noted that the victory against New Caledonia was crucial, as it allowed the team to break a world record and gain much-needed confidence.

Player Wassim Dardake confirmed the morale boost, stating: “Winning against New Caledonia and qualifying for the next round has strengthened our motivation. We have started preparing for the match against the United States under better conditions to achieve a good result.”

The team remains highly motivated and determined. “We know the match against the United States will be challenging, but we are ready to approach it with focus and determination,” Dardake added.
