Turkish journalist arrested over “misleading information” charges

A journalist working for the Turkish opposition newspaper Birgün has been arrested on charges of spreading “misleading information,” in a case that has renewed concerns about press freedom in Turkey.

The reporter, İsmail Arı, was detained in the northern province of Tokat while traveling for the Eid holiday and later transferred to Ankara for questioning. Authorities have not publicly specified which articles or reports led to his arrest.
