Turkish Foreign Minister to visit Germany for strategic dialogue talks

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to travel to Germany on Monday for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and reviving strategic discussions between the two countries.

The visit will take place within the framework of the third meeting of the Türkiye-Germany Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, where Fidan is expected to meet German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Berlin. The discussions are set to focus on political relations, economic partnerships, regional security, defense cooperation, and relations between Türkiye and the European Union.

Officials from both countries view the meeting as an opportunity to reinforce diplomatic ties at a time of growing geopolitical challenges in Europe and the Middle East. Topics expected to dominate the talks include the war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, migration issues, energy cooperation, and regional stability.

Economic relations are also expected to play a central role during the meetings. Germany remains one of Türkiye’s most important trade partners, with strong investment links and millions of people of Turkish origin living in Germany, contributing to deep cultural and social connections between the two nations.

Turkish officials are expected to underline the importance of modernizing customs agreements with the European Union and improving visa liberalization discussions for Turkish citizens.

The visit reflects renewed efforts by Ankara and Berlin to deepen cooperation in diplomacy, trade, technology, energy, and security while maintaining dialogue on sensitive regional and international issues.
