Turkish and French Foreign Ministers discuss regional tensions in phone call
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot on Monday to discuss ongoing regional developments, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
The officials explored ways to reduce tensions in the region and reviewed potential measures to halt ongoing attacks. The discussion focused on fostering diplomatic solutions and preventing further escalation.
Earlier, Minister Fidan had also spoken with his counterparts in Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, reinforcing Turkey’s regional diplomatic engagement.
The background of these talks is marked by heightened conflict in the Middle East following a recent attack by the US and Israel on Iran, which resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials. In response, Iran launched a series of drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and multiple Gulf countries hosting US military installations.
