Turkey ready to host next round of Russia-Ukraine talks
Turkey has confirmed its readiness to host the next round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said during a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Fidan emphasized the risks that the ongoing conflict poses to both regional stability and the broader international order. Discussions also touched on energy security, focusing on the protection of the Gazprom PAO-operated Blue Stream and TurkStream pipelines, which are critical for gas supplies to Europe.
Recently, Russia reported thwarting Ukrainian attacks on gas pumping stations that are part of these pipelines, highlighting ongoing concerns about infrastructure vulnerabilities in the region. Turkey’s offer to host talks underscores its role as a diplomatic mediator aiming to ease tensions and promote dialogue between the two countries.
