Türkiye supports progress in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, says President Erdogan
Türkiye has reaffirmed its support for ongoing efforts to advance the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a recent phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
According to official sources, President Erdogan emphasized that Ankara stands behind initiatives aimed at fostering stability and reconciliation in the South Caucasus. He highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue and diplomatic engagement to achieve lasting peace between Baku and Yerevan after years of tension.
During the call, Erdogan also underlined the strong strategic partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan. He noted that the two countries continue to coordinate closely across multiple sectors, with cooperation extending beyond politics to include trade, energy, and regional development.
In addition to discussing regional matters, the Turkish president conveyed his congratulations to President Aliyev on the occasion of his birthday and expressed his best wishes for the upcoming New Year. The exchange once again reflected the close political ties and mutual support that characterize relations between Ankara and Baku.
Türkiye has consistently voiced its backing for peace initiatives in the region, viewing stability in the South Caucasus as essential for economic cooperation, regional connectivity, and long-term security.
