Türkiye and OECD memorandum of understanding published in official gazette

Türkiye has officially published in its national gazette a renewed memorandum of understanding with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), confirming continued cooperation on the establishment of an OECD center in Istanbul.

The approval follows a decision by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who endorsed the renewal protocol between Türkiye and the OECD. The agreement concerns the functioning and extension of the OECD Istanbul Center, a key hub aimed at strengthening regional and international economic collaboration.

The protocol was originally signed in Paris on January 17, 2025, and officially entered into force on January 13, 2025. Its publication in the official gazette confirms its legal status and formal recognition within Türkiye’s domestic legal framework.

According to the agreement, the memorandum of understanding remains valid under its current terms until January 13, 2026. The arrangement is expected to support ongoing cooperation between Türkiye and the OECD in areas such as economic policy analysis, regional development, and institutional dialogue.

The OECD Istanbul Center plays a role in connecting policymakers, researchers, and experts, with the goal of promoting economic cooperation and sharing best practices across member and partner countries.

Officials underline that such agreements contribute to strengthening Türkiye’s position as a regional hub for international economic dialogue while enhancing its engagement with global institutions.
