Trump describes meetings with Netanyahu and Zelensky as positive
US President Donald Trump has described his separate meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington as positive, while providing few details about the discussions.
In two separate posts on his Truth Social platform, Trump said his meeting with Netanyahu had gone "very well" and indicated that the two leaders had discussed a number of important issues. The US president did not publicly provide further details about the subjects addressed during their talks.
Netanyahu and Zelensky were both in Washington to attend a memorial service for the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who had been a prominent supporter of Israel and Ukraine.
Trump's meeting with Netanyahu came amid tensions over the Israeli leader's planned discussions concerning Iran. The US president had reportedly expressed frustration after details of the issues Netanyahu intended to raise were made public before their meeting.
The US president also held talks with Zelensky, with discussions reportedly focusing on several issues related to the war in Ukraine and efforts to revive diplomatic negotiations with Russia. The two leaders also discussed potential plans involving the production of Patriot missile systems, according to reports.
Following the meeting, Trump said on Truth Social that "many things" had been discussed and described his conversation with Zelensky as having gone well.
The meetings came as Washington continues to play a central role in discussions surrounding conflicts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The talks with Netanyahu and Zelensky therefore attracted considerable attention, particularly as the United States seeks to address security concerns involving Israel, Iran, Ukraine and Russia.
Although Trump characterized both meetings positively, the limited public information released afterward leaves the precise outcomes and any concrete agreements reached between the leaders unclear.
