The Mohammed VI University Hospital (CHU) in Marrakech held its regular board meeting on Monday, chaired by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui. This strategic gathering reviewed the achievements of the past year and outlined key projects aligned with Morocco’s national healthcare reform.

Progress and Future Directions The meeting, attended by several prominent figures, including the governor of the Marrakech-Safi region and the hospital's director, Karima Fouraiji, focused on the hospital’s advancements. Discussions covered the execution of the 2024 budget and the proposed budget for 2025. Additionally, progress on the 2022-2026 development plan was thoroughly reviewed.

Minister Amine Tahraoui emphasized the significance of the session, highlighting the ongoing transformation of the healthcare sector, driven by royal vision. He stressed the need to enhance healthcare offerings, improve governance, and integrate primary and specialized care into regional health hubs.

Towards Modernizing Infrastructure and Services As part of this strategy, CHU Mohammed VI is evolving from a basic healthcare provider to a key regional coordinator. The goal is to optimize the distribution of human and material resources, ensuring more effective healthcare coverage for the growing regional population.

The minister also highlighted the importance of digitizing hospital services and providing continuous training for medical staff. Improving working conditions and adopting new technologies will help optimize patient care, expedite diagnoses, and enhance treatment processes.

On-Site Visit to Assess Progress Following the meeting, the ministerial delegation toured the hospital’s facilities, including the nuclear medicine department at the oncology and hematology hospital. A key milestone was the acquisition of a state-of-the-art PET scan, boosting the hospital’s capacity to detect and monitor cancerous diseases.

The minister also inspected the ongoing rehabilitation work at the emergency department, with rapid progress signaling a strong commitment to improving emergency care access for the region’s residents.

Commitment to a More Efficient Healthcare System Facing growing challenges related to demographics and medical infrastructure needs, the government is pursuing an integrated approach, combining structural reforms and targeted investments. CHU Mohammed VI of Marrakech is positioning itself as a central player in this transformation, aiming to provide citizens with modern, high-quality healthcare services.

This board session marks a crucial step in strengthening a regional hospital system that is both effective and inclusive, perfectly aligned with the national health reform objectives.
