A construction site disaster in South Korea led to the deaths of four individuals and left six others injured when parts of an elevated highway collapsed on Tuesday, according to fire authorities. The incident occurred in Anseong, a city located about 65 km (40 miles) south of Seoul, where ten workers were on-site. At approximately 9:49 am (00:49 GMT), five steel structures, each measuring 50 meters (164 feet), gave way, trapping workers beneath the debris.

The exact cause of the collapse remains unknown, with authorities from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport promptly sending officials to investigate. Hyundai Engineering, the company responsible for the construction, expressed deep sorrow for the fatalities and injuries. In their statement, they assured their full cooperation with ongoing investigations to determine the cause and expedite recovery efforts.

Acting President Choi Sang-mok has ordered all available resources to be mobilized, emphasizing safety measures to prevent further casualties.
