Tragic discovery of four-year-old girl found dead in Rhône, mother hospitalized
A four-year-old girl's lifeless body was discovered on November 17 in Montrottier, a small commune approximately 30 kilometers from Lyon. The investigation is in its early stages, with authorities confirming that the girl may have died from suffocation, although this has yet to be officially verified.
Following the incident, the mother reportedly went to a neighbor's home, where she allegedly confessed to the act. This neighbor subsequently informed the emergency services and the gendarmerie, who arrived to find the child’s body. The mother was taken into custody, but the reasons behind her actions remain unclear.
Her custody was lifted overnight due to health concerns, leading to her placement in a psychiatric hospital. Criminal identification officers have been dispatched to the scene for further investigations. A formal inquiry has been initiated, categorizing the case as "voluntary homicide of a minor under 15," and it has been assigned to the research brigade in L’Arbresle.
