Tragedy in Algeria: Plane crash in Jijel kills four during training mission
A tragic plane crash occurred on Tuesday in the eastern Algerian city of Jijel, killing four people, including a Chilean national and two civil protection officers. The Algerian Civil Protection issued a statement confirming the deaths.
The accident involved a Zlin reconnaissance aircraft, manufactured in the Czech Republic. The plane went down during a training and skills development mission at Ferhat Abbas Airport.
"An aviation accident took place in the Wilaya of Jijel, at Ferhat Abbas Airport, resulting in the death of four individuals who were participating in a training mission," the statement read.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the Chilean instructor or the director of the APTATA training school, who were among the victims.
Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
