The Kremlin open to new round of talks with Ukraine

The Russian government announced on Monday its willingness to engage in a new round of peace negotiations with Ukraine. However, no specific date has been set, and officials acknowledge that significant efforts will be needed to bring both sides closer to an agreement.

“We are in favor of a third round of talks,” said Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian presidency, referring to earlier discussions held in Istanbul during the spring that failed to produce results. “As soon as a date is confirmed, we will communicate it.”

The announcement comes shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky extended an invitation to Moscow to resume stalled negotiations, suggesting this week as a possible window for renewed dialogue.

Despite ongoing tensions, the Kremlin’s statement signals a potential diplomatic opening—though expectations remain cautious given the deep divisions between both parties.
