The Ever-Strengthening Morocco-Spain Partnership
Madrid and Rabat are reinforcing their resilient strategic alliance as Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, commences a diplomatic visit to Morocco on Wednesday.
During his visit, Albares is set to engage in discussions with Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, with the aim of further deepening the bilateral ties established during the momentum sparked by King Mohammed VI's meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in April 2022.
This marks Albares' inaugural foreign trip, and with a substantial delegation in tow, it underscores the commitment of Sánchez's new administration to advancing the partnership that gained remarkable momentum following the watershed 2022 Declaration.
In a span of just eighteen months, the cooperation between the two nations has not only strengthened through enhanced political dialogue but has also expanded into a comprehensive economic partnership. Additionally, both countries are collaboratively involved in various areas such as culture, education, sustainability, security, research, and more.
As Morocco-Spain relations continue to evolve and flourish under the purposeful impetus of King Mohammed VI and Prime Minister Sánchez, Albares' visit serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of both nations to solidify an ever-closer strategic alliance.
