TAMWILCOM and Flat6Labs unite to propel Moroccan startups at GITEX Africa 2025
Marrakech — In a significant move to bolster the Moroccan startup ecosystem, funding institution TAMWILCOM has partnered with Flat6Labs, a prominent startup accelerator in the MENA region, during GITEX Africa 2025. This collaboration aims to launch a new acceleration program tailored for innovative startups across Morocco.
The initiative targets high-potential sectors such as AgriTech, FinTech, Industry 4.0, CleanTech, Healthcare, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence. This partnership builds on a previous agreement made in December 2023 between TAMWILCOM and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which focused on developing acceleration support for Moroccan startups.
Hicham Zanati Serghini, Director General of TAMWILCOM, emphasized the organization's ongoing commitment to fostering Moroccan startups and tech ventures. “Flat6Labs’ expertise will help structure a key stage in the entrepreneurial journey: the acceleration of innovative projects, which is essential for successful fundraising,” he stated.
The program not only provides startups with access to high-level support but also incorporates financing options tailored to their needs. This initiative is designed to expedite venture capital fundraising, thereby enhancing the growth potential of participating startups.
David Tinel, the IFC Regional Representative for the Maghreb, highlighted the significance of this partnership. He noted that the collaboration with TAMWILCOM, part of the World Bank Group’s extensive network, will enhance financing avenues for Moroccan startups, particularly during their critical early stages. “This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to supporting sustainable and inclusive growth driven by the private sector to create more quality jobs,” he remarked.
Flat6Labs has pledged to design and implement a comprehensive support program that prepares startups for effective fundraising. Yehia Houry, Chief Programs Officer at Flat6Labs, explained, “The goals of this program are part of our DNA: unlocking the potential of high-impact startups by giving them the tools they need to grow, structure themselves, and attract funding for national and international development.”
This partnership signifies a shared vision between TAMWILCOM and Flat6Labs to cultivate a more competitive, structured, and innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystem in Morocco, aligning with the country’s ambitions for technological advancement.
