Sweden’s Trelleborg opens MAD 130 million aerospace manufacturing plant in Morocco

Morocco has inaugurated a new aerospace production facility developed by Swedish engineering group Trelleborg at the MidParc industrial zone near Casablanca. The investment is valued at nearly MAD 130 million, or around $13 million, and focuses on manufacturing sealing systems for the aviation and aerospace sector. The site becomes Trelleborg’s second industrial base in the country after its existing operations in Kenitra.

The inauguration ceremony brought together senior officials from Morocco and Sweden, including the Swedish ambassador to Morocco Frederica Ornbrant, MidParc leadership, industry representatives, and Morocco’s minister of industry Ryad Mezzour, alongside Trelleborg Group chief executive Peter Nilsson. The event highlighted the growing industrial cooperation between Morocco and international aerospace manufacturers.

The new facility strengthens Morocco’s position in global aerospace supply chains by adding specialized production capacity and technical expertise in sealing technologies used in aircraft systems. Authorities said the project is expected to create between 150 and 200 skilled jobs while also supporting the development of local suppliers integrated into the wider aviation ecosystem.

The investment follows a memorandum of understanding signed during the Marrakech Airshow 2024. Company leadership and Moroccan officials emphasized Morocco’s industrial competitiveness and strategic geographic position linking Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The plant is also expected to supply components for major aerospace manufacturers operating in the country, including Airbus and Safran-linked supply chains.
